I'm on fire for the Lord and life is well. Suddenly, emotional pain or unnecessary worry from an unexpected source finds a tiny hole to seep into my spirit. It attacks my heart and captivates my mind. Afterward, a spiritless stench hovered about me.

How much are we like Elijah in 1 Kings 19 when he ran in fear of his life from Jezebel? How often do we allow the words or actions by others to break our spirit, deplete our faith, and cause us to run from God’s calling upon our life? When God found Elijah and looked upon His servant’s heart, Elijah was exhausted, and his cup was empty. The fear from the words of a wicked woman engulfed his body, soul, and spirit, making him want to die. It pricked his mind into thinking his work for God was insignificant.
When we find ourselves waiting for something to change in dry, desolate times of our lives, we must seek and thirst for God. Like Elijah, tune our ears for His still small voice that speaks into our heart and opens our auditory senses to the Holy Spirit with expectancy that God will hear our cry and answer our prayers.
We should never forget He knows the elaborate elements in which He formed us with His hands. With His breath of life flowing through our inner being, we faithfully pursue God (Timothy 6:11), His knowledge (Hosea 6:3), and diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6) with a willing mind (1 Chronicles 28:9). Like Uzziah (2 Chronicles 25:6), when we seek God, deny self and go before His presence engaging in a two-way conversation with a mind to listen and obey according to His righteousness.
Dear Lord, I bind the spirit of lifelessness that impedes my work for you. I release the brokenness, fear, and emptiness in my heart and fill it with your power, love, and sound mind as I wait for all you have for me with enthusiastic zeal. I turn my face toward Your face to see Your infinite greatness in my life, regardless of the circumstance. Amen
